The Mid-North Shepherd’s Center, a proud affiliate of Shepherd’s Centers of America, was started in 1982, and is a viable entity in the Indianapolis Community. Older adults from across the city and outlying suburbs attend Adventures in Learning, a “mini-university” held each Wednesday. Day-trips, language classes, rehearsals for our performing choral group and handbell choir round out the weekly schedule.

Thanks to the generous support of individuals, local businesses, foundations, and sponsoring congregations, our programs are primarily offered free of charge. Lunch at the Center is served each Wednesday for a nominal fee.

  1. To sustain older people who want to live independently in their own homes and apartments.
  2. To provide older adults opportunity to use their experience, training, and skills in significant volunteering.
  3. To improve life satisfaction in one’s later years through self-realization, lifelong-learning, and discovering of inner resources.
  4. To provide attractive role models for successful aging.
  5. To advocate the right of older people to a fair share of society’s goods, and to assist them in gaining access to services they need.

Eight congregations support the Mid-North Shepherd’s Center through financial gifts, participation of their members. The Center provides additional programs, services and activities that compliment what each congregation is already providing for their adult members.  MAP
