Hymns We Love to Sing - The Story
Hymns We Love to Sing is a gift of love and devotion from a very special individual, and a tremendous choir.
Anna Lee Hamilton, a professional musician, organized the Shepherd’s Singers as an outreach of the Mid-North Shepherd’s Center, an older adult ministry in her community. The choir performed at nursing homes, and community events under her 21 years of leadership.
Wishing to share her joy of music, and the healing benefit of song, Anna Lee worked to produce a recording of favorite hymns for the enjoyment of others, even while in the midst of a battle for her own life. As her health declined, and her illness progressed, Anna Lee stepped up practices and advanced project deadlines.
On the day of taping, too weak to direct the choir, Anna Lee offered encouragement from the pew, as her musically talented daughter, stepped in to lead the choir. Hearts heavy with grief, the singers and instrumentalists, performed their last concert for their beloved director.
Anna Lee Hamilton passed away 3 weeks after taping, leaving behind a legacy which will long be remembered. Hymns We Love to Sing is a tribute to a remarkable musician and friend.
Hymns We Love to Sing was filmed in 2004 at North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
